Vinteck Pedalboard Routing Noiselesse Swith Guido MichettiThe genesis of Vinteck comes from a personal experience of founder Guido Michetti, who, as a teenager, experienced the frustration of tone degradation when buying a classic overdrive—an Ibanez TS9—only to have it clash with the linear response of an inexpensive transistor amplifier.

The methodological breakthrough occurred while observing Steve Vai’s mammoth remote pedalboard up close during a concert in Arma di Taggia. Leveraging his skills in electrical engineering, Michetti designed the TB10 switcher in 2002, the first professional true-bypass switching system integrated into the Italian market, transforming his amateur activity for friends into a benchmark international brand in 2006.

  • The Physics of High-Impedance Signal and the True Bypass Myth: The boutique guitar market often celebrates “True Bypass” as the absolute solution to all degradation. Michetti demystifies this belief by applying Ohm’s Law and the study of parasitic capacitance. The signal generated by a guitar’s passive pickups is high impedance. When this signal crosses tens of meters of cable (summing instrument cables and internal patch cables) and meets the mechanical contacts of footswitches, the cable physically acts as a passive low-pass filter ($R-C$). This dramatically dampens high frequencies and reduces output volume. The Vinteck solution involves inserting a transparent buffering circuit (like The Buff or the Buff n Boost III) at the start of the chain. The buffer transforms the high-impedance signal into a low-impedance signal with a 1:1 linear ratio, stabilizing it electrically and making it immune to cable capacitive losses up to the amplifier input.
  • Superiority of Toroidal Transformers over Switching: In designing power supplies (The Nine), Vinteck rejects the use of modern commercial switching power supplies. Although switching systems are lightweight and lack an inductive magnetic field, they intrinsically generate spurious harmonics and ultra-high frequency noise (switching squeals) that enter the power line and are amplified by the gain circuits of analog pedals. Vinteck adopts exclusively custom ultra-low radiation toroidal transformers. The torus (ring) geometry almost totally confines the magnetic flux within the ferromagnetic core, minimizing stray fields.
  • Thermal Dissipation and Ground Management: Vinteck power supplies are designed with linear regulation stages that convert dirty AC and excess current directly into heat. This construction choice involves heating of the casing, but ensures monumental electrical stability and a totally hum-free signal, allowing the system to function without voltage drops even in the presence of power grid fluctuations up to 160V. Furthermore, total galvanic isolation between groups of outputs eliminates ground loops when connecting pedals inserted both in the amplifier front-end and the effects loop (4-cable method), a problem also radically solved by the Ground Loop Killer passive module.

Vinteck collaborates directly with luthiers, musicians, and industry professionals.

Musicians can request the design of their wiring interface via feed-through junction boxes (Patch Box 4M or 4X4M), configuring pedalboard inputs and outputs in an orderly manner free of mechanical stress on patch cables.

During the consultation phase, Guido Michetti guides the user through the ideal geometric positioning of components on the pedalboard, calculating the safety distance between the residual magnetic field of the toroidal transformer and induction-sensitive circuits (such as Wah-Wah pedals), ensuring a silent and high-performing final system.
