Breach Amps: Valve Tone Meets Italian Automotive Design

Pierpaolo Bruschi - Breach AmpsPierpaolo Bruschi is an artisan and musician who has managed to blend excellent electronics with the iconic aesthetic of Italian industrial design. After higher technical education and over 17 years of experience in the field, Pierpaolo founded Breach Amps in Castellanza (VA) in 2008, driven by the challenge to create amplifiers that were not just tools, but design works capable of ensuring efficiency, portability, and a recognizable sound.

The history of Breach Amps is a tale of constant evolution: from the first 5-watt experiments to large stages. The turning point came with the meeting of artists like Heggy Vezzano, for whom Pierpaolo creates custom models used on tour with big names such as Nina Zilli and Emma Marrone. But the soul of Breach Amps also lies in its unmistakable look: inspired by the legendary Lancia rally cars of the ’60s and ’70s, the front design of the amplifiers recalls iconic radiator grilles, making each amp head a globally unique style piece.

The collectionBreach Amps Collection

Breach Amps produces single-channel valve amplifiers, heads, and cabinets, characterized by a minimal yet extremely versatile layout, designed for the musician who wants to control the tone through touch and dynamics.

Heads:

  • Stratos: A 35W head equipped with EL34 tubes. It is the perfect weapon for ’70s rock and the most demanding bluesmen. Rich in harmonics, it offers a gritty sound that loves gain pedals, maintaining exceptional dynamics.
  • Blues Cream’s King: Designed for blues, this 40W head with 6L6 tubes offers generous headroom and a creamy, responsive sound, faithful to the purest American tradition.
  • Fulvia: A project born from specific professional indications, today one of the pillars of the brand’s standard production.

Combos:

  • Cremoso: A very lightweight 35W solid pine combo, ideal for those seeking a clean, transparent, and linear tone, perfect for both the studio and pubs.
  • HP 18: The “little brother” of the Cremoso, more compressed and with the round warmth of 6V6 tubes, optimized to work on the edge of crunch.
  • Flaminia: An 18W combo with tremolo, designed around the Alnico Jensen Blackbird 40 speaker for a perfect balance between vintage and modern.

Cabs:

  • 1×12 and 2×12 solid pine cabinets, designed with fixed or floating baffles to perfectly match Breach heads and maximize tonal yield.

Construction philosophy, techniques, and materialsBreach Amps Technology, materials, philosophy

Breach Amps’ philosophy is summed up in three words: Dynamics, Simplicity, Reliability. Pierpaolo Bruschi rejects overly complex circuits in favor of single-channel solutions that preserve signal purity and responsiveness to the guitarist’s touch.

  • Handcrafted Construction: Circuits are mounted on eyelet boards, like in the golden age of amplification, ensuring robustness and ease of maintenance. In critical stages, point-to-point wiring is used to minimize signal paths and reduce noise.
  • Obsessive Sound Research: Each model adopts cathode bias and tube rectification, choices that provide natural compression and an inimitable fluidity.
  • Partnership with Jensen: The care in tonal development led Breach Amps to become an official partner of Jensen Speakers, which has included the brand among its top international builders.
