Nisio Guitars
The Guitars of Nisio Guitars
Nisio Guitars is the artisanal project of Mattia Rebuffo, a luthier and woodworker who combines skills developed in the woodworking sector from a very young age with an authentic passion for luthiery. After years of practical experience, studies in Mechanical Engineering at the Polytechnic University of Turin, and dozens of commissioned instruments built, in 2023 Mattia officially founded Nisio Guitars, a workshop located in Castelnuovo di Ceva (CN). Today, despite the young age of the brand, Nisio Guitars is already recognized by industry professionals and high-level musicians for the care, character, and sonic balance of its instruments.
What We Produce
Nisio Guitars produces handcrafted electric guitars entirely by hand. Each model is unique, designed to offer full customization in terms of materials, finishes, electronics, and feel. Production is deliberately limited, with a number of instruments ranging between 10 and 50 pieces per year, to ensure maximum control at every stage and a direct relationship with the musician.
Construction Philosophy, Techniques, and Materials
Mattia works exclusively with hand tools and woodworking machinery, without resorting to computerized phases. This is not for nostalgic purism but for practical conviction: a craftsman who knows his tools deeply works with greater efficiency and awareness. Finishing is often done in nitrocellulose, a noble and delicate material that gives the instrument an authentic look and unique feel.
Among the materials used are mahogany, maple, chestnut, pine (also reclaimed), aluminum, bone, and selected components. Recycled wood – for example, mahogany from 40-50 year-old artifacts – adds historical value and deep vibration to the instruments. Artisanship does not compromise precision or quality: each guitar is built to be reliable, versatile, and ready for any professional context.
Collaborations and Recognitions
Despite the recent official founding of the brand, Nisio Guitars has already established important collaborations: Mattia Tedesco (client and consultant), Amedeo Nan (endorser and consultant), Studio Murena. Appreciation from industry professionals confirms the solidity of the vision and the quality of construction of the project.
Direct Experience
The workshop is visitable by appointment. It is possible to meet Mattia, see the production processes live, discuss the characteristics of the ideal instrument, and experience firsthand the raw materials, sound, and approach that make every Nisio Guitar a personal and unique instrument.
