The story of Atom Amplifiers follows Marko Ota, craftsman and musician, specialist in valve technology. From a very young age, Marko combined his passion for guitar and electronics, building transmitters, amplifiers, and sound devices since he was 12 years old. Graduated from ITIS and with years of experience in the electronics field, he developed a finely tuned musical ear that today guides the unique voicing of each amplifier.
After formative experiences and witnessing a Robben Ford concert from the front row, the idea was born to create D-style amplifiers that combine technical precision, musical sensitivity, and a handcrafted soul designed to last a lifetime.
The Collection
The Atom Amplifiers collection represents a synthesis of sonic research and extreme craftsmanship. Each model is entirely handmade, with point-to-point circuits and laminated spruce cabinets with dovetail joints, designed to last forever and be repairable even after decades.
The Supertone Special embodies Atom’s D-style essence: amplifiers that range from three-dimensional, headroom-rich cleans to warm, dynamic overdrives, loved by guitarists seeking sensitivity and timbral depth. The 100/50 Brown Suede, 50 Black Tolex, and 50 British Green versions offer different interpretations of an iconic sound, from crystalline clean to driving rock.
Alongside these, the Atom 15 and Atom 22 models provide compact and versatile combos, perfect for studio sessions or live use, maintaining the D-style sonic philosophy. The Supertone Special Single, derived from the Steel String Singer, represents the quest for absolute clean tone, while the Atom 3 Watt Pure “A” class shows how ultimate simplicity can still hold a unique sonic character.
From the small Naked 20/5 to the Hybrid GB-200 for modern bassists and guitarists, each Atom creation is a statement: instruments for musicians seeking a personal sound and a machine capable of expressing emotions.
Construction Philosophy, Techniques, and Materials
Each Atom amplifier is built as a unique work, designed to last longer than a lifetime. The circuits are fully handwired point-to-point, with carefully selected components and layouts engineered for maximum reliability and maintainability over time.
The cabinets are laminated spruce with dovetail joints, aluminum chassis, and carefully crafted finishes, from Alcantara versions to Tolex setups. Marko Ota’s philosophy centers on the dialogue between musician and amplifier: every touch, every nuance must be faithfully conveyed.
Every model is tested twice: in the workshop for the instrumental part and on stage, where Marko personally tries them live. Finally, amplifiers go into the hands of professional musicians for real feedback, guiding continuous improvements and sonic refinements.
Collaborations and Recognitions
Atom amplifiers were selected among the best releases of 2024 by Planet Guitar magazine.
Each model is also entrusted to professional guitarists for field testing and feedback, making every collaboration an integral part of Atom’s sound development.
