Alusonic Aluminium Instruments: The Italian Innovation Redefining Aluminum Guitars and Basses
Alusonic Aluminium Instruments, founded in 2010 by engineer and visionary Andrea “Polly” Pollice in Rimini, aims to redefine the art of string instrument making by combining innovation, craftsmanship, and Italian tradition. The brand’s distinctive feature is the bold and skillful use of aerospace-grade aluminum in crafting unique basses and guitars, designed to offer a new sonic experience.
Alusonic’s philosophy goes beyond simply choosing an unconventional material. It is based on the pursuit of greater stability and predictability compared to traditional woods, to achieve a wider frequency response with warm, powerful lows, balanced mids, and crystalline highs. Aluminum provides an incredible attack and infinite sustain, qualities that, combined with refined aesthetics and artisanal care, make every Alusonic instrument a functional work of art, appreciated by musicians worldwide.
Innovative Construction and Proprietary Components
Alusonic masters various construction techniques that maximize the properties of aluminum:
Solid Aluminum Bodies: Crafted by milling a solid block of aerospace-grade aluminum, ensuring maximum resonance and consistency.
Hybrid Constructions: Combining aluminum or carbon fiber tops with bodies made of selected woods (such as Swamp Ash or Alder) for a rich and balanced sound.
“SLIM” Series: Aluminum bodies with reduced thickness for extremely lightweight instruments (under 4kg for 5-string basses).
Aluminum Cabinets: They developed the first fully aluminum bass cabinets, known for being among the smallest, lightest, and most powerful worldwide.
Alusonic invests in the development of custom proprietary components, designed and manufactured in-house, to ensure optimal performance and a unique sonic identity. These include:
Pickups: “Hybrid” models (Alnico5/Neodymium, Hum+Split Coil), Ceramic/Steel Dual Coil, and pickups developed in collaboration with boutique manufacturers.
Preamp Electronics: Multi-band active electronics (developed internally or in collaboration with companies like Delano and AD Electronics).
Bridges: Aluminum bridges with quick-release systems and dedicated headless solutions.
