The colascione is one of those instruments that, as soon as you look at it, you understand immediately that it wasn’t born to sit quietly in a corner. It is an ancient voice, bold and deeply rooted in the folk tradition of Southern Italy.
For centuries it has supported dances, songs, and rituals — including that Antidotum Tarantulae which already in its name promises fiery tales.

With its endless neck and its body that recalls the mandolin, the colascione is a basso continuo with a marked, essential, and primordial personality. It has often taken on the role of the bass in the lute family.
The model presented here captures that spirit, without making it stiff: an immediate, living instrument, which vibrates as if it held the memory of its land.

Whether as accompaniment, deep bass, or a raw and authentic solo voice, this colascione does not ask for permission: it enters, makes itself heard, and above all… is not forgotten.
